How to Apply a Hydrocolloid Bandage

Narae Yoon

Hydrocolloid works best when it has a clean, dry surface to adhere to. A simple routine before application can help the bandage stay in place and do its job.

Clean the wound

Gently clean the scrape and surrounding skin to remove dirt or debris.

If you’ve already applied ointment, lotion, or another product, gently clean away any residue before applying the hydrocolloid bandage.

Dry the skin completely

Let the wound and surrounding skin dry before application. Moisture, sweat, sunscreen, lotion, or ointment left on the skin can interfere with adhesion.

Once the area is clean and dry, choose a patch that comfortably covers the wound.

Apply and let it work

Place the hydrocolloid bandage over the scrape, then press and smooth it onto the surrounding dry skin.

There’s no need to apply ointment underneath. Once in place, MoistureBand™ helps maintain a moist, protected environment while the skin goes through its natural healing process.

Clean. Dry. Apply.
